Job Type: Officer of Administration Regular/Temporary: Regular Hours Per Week: 35 Building: John Jay Hall Salary Range: $67,000 - $74,000 The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. Position Summary Reporting to the Director, Direct Services, the Health Promotion Specialist (HPS) will provide daily oversight of all individual and group wellness coaching and related services. The Health Promotion Specialist will conduct 1:1 student support services to foster a sense of community and belonging, enhance awareness and utilization of campus resources, facilitate workshops, training, department events, and other operational needs. This position will supervise graduate and undergraduate student staff and will work with the Director to provide planning, implementation, and evaluation for wellness coaching initiatives. The HPS will work collaboratively across Columbia Health and Columbia University to meet the needs of all students. This is an essential on-site role. Some hybrid work options may be considered. Some evening and weekend hours required. Responsibilities Wellness Coaching (50%) In partnership with the Director, oversee the planning, implementation, and evaluation of theory- and evidence-informed wellness coaching. Assume functional and procedural supervision, including recruitment, onboarding, mentoring, training, scheduling, and oversight of well-being advocates and other student team members. Provide one-on-one wellness coaching and small group wellness coaching. Continually document case notes and referrals. Monitor data tracking, evaluation, and metrics. Recommend data-informed opportunities to advance department, division, and University goals. Serve as key resource and subject matter expert to internal and external campus stakeholders. Monitor and triage all wellness coaching-related inquiries for internal and external stakeholders. Administration and Capacity Building (30%) Assist the Director with periodic reviews of wellness coaching-related data and policies. Recommend data-informed opportunities to advance department, division, and University goals. Support the research, writing, editing, and updating of web-based related content. Assist the Direct Services team with one-on-one and small group educational sessions. Write and submit periodic and annual reports on program progress and outcomes, including developing proposals for enhancements or changes as appropriate. Develop proposals for programs and other interventions that are aligned with departmental goals and objectives and the overall campus community. Develop and maintain relationships with numerous stakeholders on campus, including, but not limited to, Undergraduate Student Life, University Life, Athletics and Physical Education, Columbia University schools and departments, Columbia Health staff, and student organizations. Serve on committees and task forces and participate in professional group meetings. In collaboration with the Director and Columbia Health Administration, write and submit grant proposals. In partnership with the Director, design and conduct assessment, evaluation, and research. Other Direct Services (15%) In partnership with the Director, identify and facilitate professional development for team members on wellness coaching, including assessing needs of staff, organizing and managing trainings in collaboration with other departments, and continually evaluating program efforts. Develop, plan, implement, and evaluate workshops and trainings for students and other key University stakeholders. Provide cross-coverage and backup support for Alice! Health Promotion, Columbia Health, and Columbia University programs/initiatives, as needed Perform other duties as assigned (5%) Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree. Minimum of 2 years of closely-related experience, preferably in planning, implementing, and evaluating evidence- and theory-informed wellness coaching. Demonstrated knowledge of wellness coaching frameworks and theory, health promotion theory, and evidence-informed practice, and the ability to translate and apply theory and evidence with a university population. Ability to design health promotion initiatives that reflect the social, cultural, political, and economic diversity of students. Demonstrated understanding of college students' development issues, health needs, and interests. Strong writing, editing, group facilitation, public speaking, and communication skills. Detail-oriented with strong organizational and follow-up skills. Strong computer skills required, including PC literacy in a Windows environment, Microsoft Office Suite, and ability to learn technology quickly. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in health promotion/education, social work, or other related field. Demonstrated project management experience. Experience with direct student support including trauma-informed practices and motivational interviewing. Experience in web site content production and management, program development, marketing, evaluation, and grant writing. National Board-Certified Health & Wellness Coach (NBC-HWC) or Real Balance Certified Wellness & Health Coach (CWHC). CHES/MCHES or CPH certified (or eligible with intent to become certified). Proficiency in Bengali, Cantonese, French, Hindi, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, Portuguese and other languages is a plus. Other Requirements Some evening and weekend hours required.
